Two weeks and counting!

Hey folks!
Less than two weeks now (December 20th) before the rogue workshop guy releases my truck from his shop.
The Tribunal has made an order he has to release it between 20th and the 23rd. What's the bet he leaves it until the last minute of the last possible day.
The fight to win back most of my deposit is still continuing, but at least the truck will be out of there.
Not gonna name and shame the business as the Department of Fair Trading have already indicated they are very interested in having a chat with the owner, so it's probably fair to say he's
in deep ****
Wish us luck! It's been six months in his shop. She'll be home for Christmas

I can't believe how many shops there are out there that just screw over their customers. I thought I finally found a good bodyshop (after two others) but they just kept Nickle Diming me until I just told em it's done enough I'm coming to pick it up.
I too wish you the very best in recouping all your stuff. Kinda crazy if you do you'll consider it a win but in fact it's still a loss.

I don't understand why the shop gets to continue holding the truck for two more weeks, and has a narrow window of time set to release it. Why not just give it back to you now and be done? Seems like it's an open invitation to continue the screws and for parts to come up missing. Certainly wish you all the best.

Gives the body shop time to replace the parts he sold off. Of course I’m being sarcastic. That would never happen.

Hopefully you have a list of parts they have. Take your time when you are picking it up to access the parts and condition of truck.. We wish you the best going foward.

Fortunately, about two months ago, I picked up a lot of the stuff from the place. Now there's only about ten items to be returned.

Exactly, right, BJ. If it comes back at all it's something. Can't do much about the lost six months. Will be giving it my best shot to recover deposit.

Agree 100 % Wayne. I think the tribunal was a bit unfair in making me submit my evidence two weeks after a conciliation meeting and allowing him two extra weeks to provide his own response. Just gives him more opportunity to fabricate more lies and, as you said, more time to lose stuff and or damage the vehicle. I was hoping the tribunal would force him to release it on the day. We're 9 days and counting!

He has 9 days to submit a document to both me and the tribunal and he has up until the 23rd to release the truck.
The tribunal encourage dialogue that results in a settlement prior to the tribunal hearing date, and I sent an email to him asking to negotiate further and return
the vehicle earlier if he preferred, as it is in his workshop taking up space that he could be filling with other customer's vehicles, knowing it will be inevitable that he
must return it. He didn't bother responding.
Funny thing is, I still reckon he won't let it go. I am just gonna be there on the 23rd at 3.30 pm with a tow truck and count down the time until 4pm.

Are you going with any law enforcement? In the US, it’s not uncommon for claimants (in contested cases) to take a local law enforcement person with them to retrieve personal property; just in case.

Looks like that will be around 10pm tonight CST as you are 16 hours ahead of us in CST here in US. I will keep my fingers crossed hoping things go well for you.

I was just thinking about you, thinking time had to be about up. Hope all goes well and you get satisfaction with all your parts back.
