It doesn't get that cold where you are does it OLDF1 ?
It did this last week as did the rest of Canada. -30C plus the wind in the Valley that has 16 miles of lake to get wound up on. (and the worlds longest plowed skating road)
Well, sadly things went against us. the court of arbitration sided with him totally. So much for fair and equitable.
We're lodging an appeal.
s*** happens.
That's crazy! Glad you recouped the truck but this hobby sure has its negatives. I guess that's why I never tried any legal action with the bodyshops that screwed me around on my 56.
What a bunch of BS. After retiring with 30 years in law enforcement some of the things I have seen the courts does just makes me shake my head in disbelief. They nail the small guy and let the real turds off easy. I know it gets tiering but continue to use all your appeals if needed because it sounds like he will when you win. Good luck.
I respect that you are trying to be honorable and not name names BUT guys get away with this **** because we don't pass the word around.
there is no reason to be nasty about it but I would be happy for you to say " I personally would not use Donald Duck Auto body because of several bad experiences "
No need to be nasty but please don't let any other car/truck guys go through what you have.
Sorry you are having to deal with this! Can't believe they ruled in his favor. Are you trying to just get your deposit back? Or is this guy claiming he actually did the deposited amount work on your truck? I get so sad and angry for people when hearing about them losing deposit money when all they did was just trying to hire someone to help them on a project. The same thing happened to my son about 2 years back. He hired a contractor that demanded a deposit to get on his schedule. He paid him a deposit, and never could get the guy to come back and even start the job. The guy even had my son sign a contract. When my son tried to get him into small claims court, the local Sheriff's office couldn't find him to serve him the papers. He used a false address. We did find out he moved out of town. But the Law there couldn't serve him either was we had no address.
Myself, I am at the point (unless I am renting something or unless I get some pretty solid references) if someone wants me to give them a deposit, I will politely decline and go to someone else.
