I installed a T-handle shift **** on my lever about 8 years ago and it is still doing well. It looks a lot like the one below. I paid like $10 for it at Advance Auto at the time. I "fabricated" a method for it to mount securely using the lever splines and the T-handle threads. Still looks and works great. It is stainless steel or brushed aluminum looking, not chrome.
It also serves as a theft deterrent system for those that are unable to drive a manual transmission. Kind of like "The Club", but for the transmission. Choose something you like and take some time to develop long lasting and solid method of installing it. I seem to remember you having a revolver shift handle or something like that at the Oct 2021 GTG?
Yes, I had a revolver for my ****. It was just something they had at the part store. Unfortunately it will no longer thread at all onto the mounted thread adapter due to the missing threads. No idea where they went....
I've never personally liked the horizontal T style grips. Well, I say that but I've never tried one. Just seems like it would be akward. I do like the pistol grips though. Here is the pistol grip I tried but didn't like the fit by the steering wheel. Browning Pistol Grip Gear Shift **** for Cars and Trucks, for Automatic and Manual Shifter, Fits Most Vehicles. https://a.co/d/fGWPgyP
here I found the Hurst alluminium pistol grip used like new for 40$. Hurst 1531000 Universal Pistol Grip Shift Handle, Aluminum https://a.co/d/17ATFmo
Going to read specs a bit but, I might try this one. I'm going to order an oem one either way just in case.
For now my shift **** is the set screw add-a-thread that went to my shift ****. Not very comfortable and it's a bit far away due to the short length of it😏
but it will get me by till one of my ***** come in And yes, I'm well aware I need new molded flooring. Mine is tearing right behind the shifter. It's on the list. It's a long list......
Really considering the Hurst pistol grip shifter ****. Unfortunately, if I get the adapter to adapt it from a press fit shifter shaft to a threaded **** it will be too tall and will hit the steering wheel. So my best bet would be to drill out the bottom of the shifter itself to a larger diameter, big enough to fit over the shaft and put a set screw in the sides of it. Considering it's a $70 ****, it would kind of hurt my feelings to drill on it though. Maybe I can find a Chinese duplicate to try it on first. I might could even bend the shifter itself to make things fit better and maybe even be more comfortable overall.

Cut the shifter and weld a section of threads to it. Put a wet towel on the seat so no holes are burned in it.

That's a good idea. I could cut some off the top If I had to to shorten it to make sure I had clearance for the steering wheel as well. I could do that. Then I would never, ever have a problem my shift **** again. I could also make the threads long enough to put a jam nut on it
Unbolt the lever and modify it to suit your needs. You could put threads on the lever with a thread die or weld a bolt on and grind the head down down. Finish up with some paint.
There are several ways to achieve your goal of a unique handle that you like. At least you can remove the lever in just a moment and work on it at a bench instead of in the truck.
This is what I did when I modified my lever to fit the T-handle many years ago. Still like it to this day. I had thought about having it laser etched with the gear pattern, but said screw it because if I forget, then I need to sell the truck.

that’s funny you say that about a club for manual trans. I have a a 4wd shifter **** on mine and any time the truck goes to a shop to get worked on it’s interesting watching them try to drive it
