Neutral/Idle, in "D"...
1 minute idle in Park = 7 cents of gas used... Throttle 7 to 8 % load 19 to 20.
1 minute of idle in "D" = 9 cents of fuel used... Throttle 8 to 9 % load 27... So, it was using more fuel in "D" than "N" and everything was warmed up to operating temps, is it BS what the manual says about the transmission going into "N" when stopped and still in "D" with the brakes on to get better fuel economy in traffic, then when the brakes come off it's back in "D"...???

Automatic Transmission Adaptive
Learning
This feature's design is to increase
durability and provide consistent shift feel
over the life of your vehicle. A new vehicle
or transmission may have firm shifts, soft
shifts or both. This operation is normal and
does not affect function or durability of the
transmission. Over time, the adaptive
learning process fully updates transmission
operation. Additionally, whenever you
disconnect the battery or install a new
battery, the system must relearn the
strategy.

and F600 Chassis Cab Vehicles
Your transmission could reduce the load
on the engine when the vehicle stops, and
the gear selector is in drive (D) to reduce
fuel consumption and emissions. The
transmission resumes operation when you
release the brake. This feature activates
when the transmission is sufficiently
warmed, and the vehicle is on a level slope.

BUT, guess what, there are a lot of other things that can be done that aren't being done too, ... Anyways let's get back to that 2 cents a minute. On a normal going to work every day it was 10 lights going there and 10 lights coming home I sat there, let's just say 15 minutes every day X 2 cents a minute = 30 cents, X 5 days a week = $1.50. a week X 50 weeks a year = $75.00, that's 3 cases of beer a year, so it is NOT nothing... and... that seems easily accomplished with todays ECU set ups. JMO So... Why not.? as a standard set up for every vehicle...???
