Ignition Gremlin

Ok so to preface this its a 1972 429. Replaced Petronix Ignitor unit with the Ignitor II after the magnetic wheel failed.

the issue is.... at a cruise when wanting to go up a hill its wanting to cut ignition. Ill checking gap shortly when we slow down at work but Petronix states .010-.060 is working range for air gap factor. and it only does it at highway speed. 1st or 2nd gear no issues. in 3rd going up and out of mountains its fine just at highway cruise like vac advance is pulling the unit too far. can the dizzy springs not pull it back?

You had me at Petronix
If you had a Duraspark or God forbid even a HEI you would not have any? trouble?
The vacuum advance spring is pretty tough / tight
So if your breaker plate in that distributor is sticking you need to deal with that issue first
That is what used to happen to those old point distributors
They would get some shaft wear and wear out the breaker plate bushing
.
