Google helping EV sellers!
Google helping EV sellers!
It looks like Google is having an online seminar today to help those selling EVs figure out more ways to sell them! Here is the site info:
Today: Electrify Your EV Marketing with Strategic Insights from Google
It looks like Google is on board with EVs! I know most people trust Google to deliver the facts, and when such a great company-that has nothing to do with the automotive industry, starts taking the lead in the marketing of EVs you know it must be great!

They were having a seminar, not just articles.
Google is in the advertising business, not the car business. So it makes sense that they're trying to promote advertising for a product. I think that makes sense; few would be in a better position to recognize what types of messaging work for consumers and what don't.
Likewise, Google's directions to a business are far better than directions to a residence for instance. They live to serve business needs more than anything else.
I'm guessing, just guessing my you, maybe VW is going to have a Big Push in the USA to sell EVs? Just because Goggle is now having seminars on how sell people on the idea of EVs, and VW just hired a Goggle Exec to head up marketing is just a coincidence, a chance aligning of the stars etc., you think?

I'm honestly not sure what the point here is. For generations, car companies have worked with marketing firms of all flavors to advertise their cars to the general public. Google is one of the world's largest advertising firms. I'd be shocked if every major automaker wasn't selling ads through their service.
If you had a car company that just invested billions into a new type of product, I'm pretty sure you'd work with Google to market it as well. Is there something else I'm missing?

I cannot discuss it here; however, if one takes a moment and Googles, "Most liberal tech companies" and/or similar searches, you'll find (from both right and left leaning organizations) google is very "woke". This is based on many factors such as, they "news stories" they run, the political donations made to one party vs the other, etc. I don't know anyone that does believe (know) there is quite a bit of bias in American news sources these days. With something a big as converting America to EV's and the demise of the ICE, I would rather see and hear from those with as little bias as possible. Even the appearance of bias can affect the thought process of those educating themselves on the issue. BTW, while it is true google makes some of its money via advertising, it is also a large "news" organization, 35 languages, world-wide. I looked up when it started, 2002, so, it has been around for 20+ years.
So….
A car company partners with an advertising firm that has political beliefs you don’t agree with? Since when has an advertising company been expected to be neutral? They’re not supposed to be neutral! They’re supposed to convince you to buy the product they’re advertising form!

Oh, contrary, I am worried about a NEWS organization that partners with any political belief, my or otherwise. One really BIG problem we have today is "news" organizations. News should be objective, and neutral, the reader or viewer should listen to the facts, an make up their own minds. If "news" organizations are presenting a slanted (very slanted) presentation, in order to bolster one political belief, they are no longer a "news" organization, but rather a propaganda machine. Your presentation is a good example, insinuate that "google is an "advertising firm that has political beliefs...", but you failed to include the other HUGE fact, the fact that they are also a HUGE News Source, in fact, Google News is seen around the world, in over thirty languages. I'm sure in your case it was completely unintentional, but if you were a professional, I would not be sure at all. An example of potential bias or wrongdoing: If a General Officer were to asked congress for a billion-dollar new weapon system, after it is funded, he retires and goes to work for the very company he thinks we the taxpayers should buy these weapons from. This sort of thing has long been recognized, by many, as having the appearance of impropriety. Granted the example deals with taxpayer money, but the appearance of impropriety is, or should be very important to a News organization.

Google doesn't operate a newsroom. Their news tab provides links to articles published by third parties. If you look at their balance sheet, Google looks like an advertising company that also runs a search engine. They've been selling advertising to carmakers since their creation. Most people don't view everything through a political lens. They go to work, do their job, and go home.
Are you familiar with the term "gaslighting?"

You ask, "Are you familiar with the term "gaslighting"", I respond, "I sure am", thanks for asking! I'd like to make an observation that I'm sure you've considered, if Google's news tabs provide links to articles, it might be possible, just a tiny possibility that they [google] pick only those stories they "agree with the slant". Most people do not view everything through a political lens, but "go to work and do their jobs", then "go home". I have a problem with. We have far toooooo many people that do not work, thus they have no job, and they don't go home, as they have never left home (you may be shocked to find out how many mama's boys still live at home, well into their 30s!). We even have an ever-increasing number of people that if they can't do their job from home-are "forced to come to work", they'd rather quit! Just because someone does not know what atoms make up the air they breathe, never even think about it, does not mean they don't breathe, it only means they don't think, at least they don't think about air. I'd love to respond in more detail regarding the political thoughts that are permeating our society; however, that discussion is not allowed on this board.
Sir, the only thing that I could possibly add here would be for you to "try" to stay away from anything that Google touches.
I can't imagine that anyone would be this bothered by Google's political leanings. They provide a very good high demand service that businesses flock to in order to get their names across the web.
We need to tread lightly before this jumps off the rails and heads to the club or is simply shut down and deleted.
^^^Removing oneself from anything on the internet we find not to our liking is far, far easier than so many want to believe its possible. Most who complain the most tend to be those eyebrow deep in something like Google offering seminars etc already.
