As a thought given your wanting to push 410ci which is great, could that cam be a bit much for your purpose or are you set on it? My only recommendation is if it is going to be a street truck then I might ease up on the cam. Otherwise don't forget to keep us updated on the project, sounds good. Don't have a desktop dyno or anything but given seeing similar builds with a 393 and smaller 185afr's that thing should make every bit of 500hp so you might consider the main girdle for sure. Later and good luck

I'm not doing this expecting it to be a daily driver but of course will use it if I can. It will mainly be a 'weekend' truck. I DO plan on taking it to the local track (if you want to call it local) a few times a year because there are only two Ford's that run (SLOWLY).

I figured the carb may be too small, so I've been looking at prices for the larger HP series. I may go ahead and get the 750 and a 850 or so to see which one it likes better.

Well I didn't figure you were wanting to make it a daily driver but you never know. So are you gonna tubb that sucker? I am sure you know this but you can fit a 15X12 wheel with 7.5" backspacing (with a mini tubb) on your rearend and keep the axle and springs in the stock location, and the tire will depending on brand fit in-line with the fender and not stick out. That is 15" of tread on the ground and you don't have to change for strip tires, but since your not going to drive on the street much that probably doesn't matter to you. Just thought I would throw it out there. Are you going with a c6? Later

Well, right now I do have the bed off but doubt I'll mini-tub it. I do have a set of 15x10's that fit it, so I will buy a set of slicks for when I do go to the track......All this after promising my old lady I wouldn't race anymore........Well, it's not a strip only, unstreetable ride - just want to be able represent Ford once in a while since no one else does.. Besides that was ten years ago! ;-)

Hey if you don't stretch the truth with the wife every once in a while things aren't as interesting now are they? Hahaha. I know pictures will be the last thing on your mind, but if you can post some progress pictures, I would enjoy seeing them. Every time I do something I don't remember until it is over. Too focused on getting it done, go figure.

So what brought you to the 418 stroker and not the other variations of the 351w?

Well, with either of the other combo's I was going to buy a new rotating assembly anyway. The 418 just has a slightly longer stroke.

Pictures of progress...LOL....what progress? LOL

Yeah, when I do start to actually get something accomplished I'll take a few pics.

No, I'm having some work to strengthen the AOD done. It will be fine for the street. If I do scatter it....I guess I'll go with a C6.

don't stop there, hook it up with some 3.90's or 4.10's and a locker, or just use a full spool. Put that Torque to good use! That motor sounds completely badass, but make sure you build the rest of the truck too if you are looking to go that fast.

Yeah, I'm thinking of going with a 3.90 9". That's only because I can get it pretty cheap. I may go with a locker, their a little finicky but not as much as a spool (for street use).

Yeah spool=street use=potentially very dangerous.

YOu surely knew this question would come. Do you plan on putting a cage in that thing? With the motors potential and you mentioned previous drag race experience, that sucker is gonna be illegal at the track or close to it. Later

No, no bars for this. It will mostly just be something to drive on the weekends with the power when prompted. I can't say what kind of number it will run but sure it will be one of the quickest in the area. Need to remember, it's still a brick wall. lol

If I ever find a decent Mach1 I have no problem yanking this out for it and build another 302 for the 'pit'...

Hell, I still haven't found a decent block! ( I wish people would keep the welders away from the lifter valley)

I like the way you think. haha

You have a good point about speed and the cage. I just menioned it because I know a few fellows are running 550hp or so to the ground (trucks), which is close to what you should be able to put down if you don't put down more, and they are running very quick. Enough to need a cage. No doubt you are going to represent the ford truck in a very positive way at the track, given your build goals are reached. I always hear 351w blocks are plentiful, I would like to know where. They are like gold in my state, very hard to find, and considered a precious object. haha. Again I wish you the best of luck with it
