Without supporting either of the political parties, it's entertaining watching the news on election day. It's like a sporting event.....almost. Too bad bookmakers don't accept wagering on politics. I would have placed a few bets, instead of losing my money to Powerball. Cheaters. Suspending the game. Something crooked happened there. Dirty lottery is worse than dirty politics. My ticket was supposed to be the winner. I'm going to storm The Capitol. Take back my Powerball jackpot. By myself, if need be. Who wants to carpool with me to DC? We could split the gas on my old F-150 getting 9 miles to the gallon.
I'm with ya, except at 9 MPG and 3000 miles (x 2 or 6000 miles round trip) that's around $3300 for fuel. If we take my slightly newer F150, which gets an honest 21 MPG on the highway, it will be less than $1500 for the fuel. Gotta economize.
Okay. Pick me up in front of Walgreens, at the corner of Happy & Healthy. We can use all the hypermiling tips from the last time that gas was extremely expensive. Pull up to the rear bumper of a semi-truck, then pray that it does not suddenly brake. Put the transmission in neutral whenever the truck is on a downhill grade. Turn the ignition off at red lights. Remove the tailgate and rear bumper. Roll through all stop signs.
And I'm not coming back, if we don't get to turn our cell phones into handheld gambling devices. Just drop me off in Las Vegas.
Wow. My car gets better highway mileage than either of your trucks. And here I was bashing it for having lousy gas mileage. Going to have to go out there and apologize to the boy racer and hope he forgives me.
Powerball to the people! They cheated me out of 2 billion bucks....... Oh, wait a minute, I didn't buy a ticket. So. I'm 2 bucks ahead, now I can buy a third of a gallon of diesel and be happy.
Since The People elected not to have gambling on cell phones, I'll be ahead every day. If I save $100 a day by not gambling on my cell phone, I'll be ahead $36,500 annually. The "pitch" for that was that allowing gambling would help the homeless. I guess the tax collected, could have helped fund more social programs. But wouldn't the homeless be better off if I simply give $36,500 to the homeless directly? Heck, for that kind of money, I could simply find a homeless person, take him home, and let him stay with me. That would take 1 homeless person off the street completely. That should be the basis for a new social program. Homeless Adoption. Adopt a homeless person, get a tax deduction, and some sort of government stipend - same as you would get if you took in a foster kid. We could get all of the homeless people into homes, if there was an incentive for people with homes to adopt the homeless.
I'm glued to the computer. Riveted to the monitor. ABC7 uploaded a pursuit from The SouthLAnd. My Dad says, "that ***** doesn't happen in countries with public execution". I suppose he's right. You don't hear about high speed pursuits in Iran. China has public execution. And they do it often. You just don't see live coverage of The People's Republic PD on 10-speeds, chasing after some clown on a $10,000 carbon fiber, fixed gear racing bike, with no brakes.
It cost $584 million to buy 292 million tickets. $2 billion prize with the 1 time cash payout of $950 million. Minus 40% taxes. You are left with $570 million. You would actually be at a loss, of $14 million dollars.
Television news went to interview the landscaper who lost his truck. I must say, that Chevrolet truck was mighty impressive, the way it held up to the abuse.
