This bolt (steering column dash collar thing) was not in all the way when I brought her home, figured it was probably stripped. I managed to get it out almost all the way but now it just spins either direction, feels like it is hanging on by just a thread or two though. I can't really tell what the nut is like, even with the gauge cluster out I can't really see back there. Haven't applied heat yet. Any tips?
A mirror! Brilliant. I feel slightly dumb not even thinking about that. Ends up it is covered by like a metal shield sort of thing to keep it from turning I guess (even though the nut still turns), but I was able to pry up one end and slip a flat blade screwdriver in there which butted up against the column and gave the leverage needed to get it out! Thanks Charlie! Does look cross-threaded, off to the hardware store to find a suitable replacement.
