Impressive mileage

Just did a 450 mile round trip to go hunting with my buddy. Crossed the mountain pass twice, there and back. Mildly rebuilt 460, with a slightly hotter comp cam, and complete Banks headers and exhaust. Per the math doing miles divided by gallons, I averaged 12.91 mpg! Pretty dang impressed that my 7.5L got that kind of mileage. Wasn't towing our 5th wheel, so no drag there, just the truck. But, dang, 12.91! Safe to say im happy with the rebuild.

What did you get before rebuild, on trips?

Never checked it before the rebuild. I know towing our 5th wheel, I only average about 8. So I'm pretty happy with it.

I drove my IDI 700 miles over the weekend. 350 miles each way. I got 16.7 MPG on the way up at 65-67mph with the A/C on of pure freeway driving. I returned at night, so no A/C, and i found a big rig to draft at 60mph. I got 17.2 MPG.
