I’m sure this has been asked before but I’m new to this truck and this cold weather package. I know I have an engine block heater but I’m wondering what EPBV and AIH stand for because I see that as listed with the cold weather package. I do notice that as soon as I start the truck up and turn on the heat I do get warm air immediately which I’m imagining is something electric and not the coolant to create heat. Thank you for any information you all may know about this.
I didn’t see a “cold weather package” listed even as an option when I ordered my 22. However, I did add the engine block heater for $100. The supplemental rapid heat was also an additional add on at $250 but I passed on it. This is likely what is making immediate heat on yours (assuming it’s a diesel?)
Agree "cold weather package" is not a thing on the current SD trucks. You can option engine block heater and supplemental rapid heat individually, those are about the only individual options I can see related to cold weather. What year is your truck? This forum is 2017-2023.
- no optional supplimentary heat or cold package on the online "build and price" site
- my window sticker shows PTC Supplemental Heater under the XLT Premium package but it isn't listed as part of the Premium package on Build and Price.... I assume this is the electric heater?
- no mention of EBPV or AIH anywhere I can find except for older trucks
- I have the 397 Amp Alternator (no charge on the window sticker)
- I have the block heater (nowhere on the sticker but physically verified)
So I'm curious to know if there is anything additionally available as far as options for cold weather operation? I think it's likely that all trucks shipped to Canada come with a block heater and possibly the PTC.
I've had no issues starting my truck in -18F (-28C) using the block heater and -10F (-23C) without. Except for the bulky clothing I wore it was the same as starting the engine at +40F (4C).
Just make sure you're using the correct grade of oil for your climate, don't neglect your battery maintenance and make sure you are using good quality winterized fuel.
I have. been unable to find the power cord for the engine block heater on my 2022 F350 6.7L crew cab dually. The guy I spoke to at the dealer didn't know either. Can anyone advise?
Thank you
Doug

if you have it it will be down by the passenger side tow hook area. My be bundled up as someone else suggested.
Not really what you were asking, but I thought I'd throw out the same advice I always give. Most important thing you can do for any vehicle that sits in cold weather very often, is to install a battery maintainer and use it. I like the Noco 2d, but there are lots of others that are affordable.
Thanks for the tip. I'll go hunting there and see if I can find it.
I don’t know what year you have, but there was a recall on them and parts were back ordered, so the fix was to cut them off with a side cutters to disable them until parts were available.
