Tried buying a fan belt at my local Ford dealer yesterday, parts man ask if I had a cold weather package.I didn't know, service manager or parts man don't know how to tell if it did.I didn't have the truck with me or the vin. There is twopossible belts for mine. They didn't have either.Does anybody know where on the truck it says "cold weather package"or what the belt number is?My truck is run of the mill 99.5 f 250 7.3 psd 4x4 AC one alternater.bought from this same kansas dealer. Thanks
If you have a block heater, you have a cold weather package. The cold weather package includes a block heater, EBPV, and I think the AIH only comes on trucks with the cold weather package. Bock heater will be your easiest indicator.
But, it shouldn't matter if it has a cold weather package for the serp belt. There are no extra drive accesories associated with the cold weather package.
My truck has cold weather package (including aih and hairdryer mode) but does not fit the short belt.
Go figure.
Just went back to the store to exchange it.

Actually the cold weather package has a belt that is 1" longer.
Actually the Cold Weather Package belt is shorter - I had one on, as I figured I had the Cold Package being in Wisconsin, and it barely fit. Today the Belt Tensioner idler took a impressive crap - saw it roll out from under truck - and shredded the belt. The only one the store had was the Non Cold weather pack belt and it fit much better.

This is great information to have! I have installed the LN alternator on my pickup, and as such, the belt currently on the truck barely fits. I know now when I replace the belt I want to use the W/O belt!
