Engine swap. HELP!!!

I have a 2004 F150 XLT 4wd. It currently has the 5.4 Triton, 3 valve engine. It has nearly 300000 miles and has finally played out. I have been looking around and realized that to replace the motor with one of the same is quiet expensive. I'm wondering about the possibility of maybe taking the motor out and doing away with the computer and replacing it with a simple 302 or 351. Can someone tell me if it is possible to do using my current transmission and transfer case? And if so is it worth it? Thank you for any advise.

No, not doable. Transmission from the Windsors doesn’t have the same bellhousing bolt pattern.

You could drop a 4.6 in a lot cheaper, I bet, since it came as a factory option in your truck.

Sure, it can be done. I am certain that making it work will cost FAR more than rebuilding your current engine, and it won't run nearly as well.

this is not a reasonable option unless you own a personal salvage yard , get another 5.4 and enjoy

I went with a 4.6 2 valve. The 3 and 4 valve engines are problematic.

The original engine seized so I looked for a 4.6 2 valve and found one in a Charlotte junk yard. A local shop replaced the water pump and plugs before installing it, and it is running fine.
