Also the cylinders should be within 10% of each other.

An old diesel guy told me to crack the injector lines. Listen for the miss. If one doesn't miss, replace it. IE: "you don need no stinkin compression test"

I'd sure like to know what my individual cylinders compression is though.

thanks guys im running from 380 to about 410. they tell me it is good. my problem is that the truck runs great but after it gets hot i have a real hard time starting it. i have been told it was compression or a injector pump or ....... So i am trying to narrow down my work. if anyone has had an injecter pump goout could thety let me know what the signs are or just if you know

I did have an ip go out on me and the 1st sign i had was it would not start when up to temp.I used to have to wait 1-2 hours before it would re-start. What milage is on it? If no additives such as stanadyne fuel treatment was used(it adds lubricity to the pump) your lucky to get 100,000.
Good news on the compression though,at least you have some evidence to support putting on a new ip.

Does it have a hard time idling? One thing I've noticed on some bad pumps is they will stall after you snap the throttle and release.

If you want to be full sure i suggest removing the ip and take to a diesel shop for testing. Its not that hard to remove except for the 2 bottom bolts.I had to fab up a 9/16 wrench(cut off and weld on a handle).I also found it easier to remove the injector lines 1st.Remember though, dirt is your enemy, even in minute amounts,CLEAN everything before you start. Good luck.
