I use Rustoleum rusty metal primer followed by Rustoleum satin black. Nothing fancy but does the job for me. Of course you can use specific chassis black paint that places like Eastwood sell but its pricey compared to Rustoleum. Or if you don't have to have it in a rattle can there is this from Tractor Supply. JMO

Rustoleum Farm/pictured: I see they make it in a spray can. Have you used/did you just paint it on or? I'm not wanting to primer and paint/want an all in one.
Tractor Supply has there own brand IIRC Majestic I think its called.
The also make a hardner for it.
I used gloss black on my 81 F100 frame
De-greased the frame, hit any rust with a hand wire brush (rust was just surface) then used an acid that kills any rust and let it work a few days.
Washed the frame with the hose and let it dry a few days.
Now I used an old school spray gun and added the hardner but I cant see why you cant use a brush.
Thing is I dont know how hardner would work with a brush as the paint may get hard too fast?
I did not have the front suspension on the frame when I painted it I did it and the rear axle & springs by brush and no hardner.

Looks good👍 I'm just wanting to hit my frame, etc to cover up the bare metal...frame is still on the truck 🚚 😆
Then if it was me I would get a gallon of black paint and hit HF tools for a box of paint / chip brushes and go to town.
I only used the spray gun because my garage is set up with air and I have a few old school spray guns and the big one it was a bare frame and easy to spray.
When I bought the truck it was to haul my weekly trash to the dump but I could not put patches on top of patches and got carried away on the fix.
Should have seen and heard the wife when she came out to my garage 3 hours after getting the truck home and I had started to pull it apart for the frame off rebuild
It was not till I started to put paint on the body 4 years later that she came around and started to like it.

Its actually my work van I'm working on, so I don't want to get carried away 😂 it's pretty much rust free and what rust there is, is just surface rust...I just want to get the bare metal covered.
