I took off my air vent registers when I was disassembling the dash and the little pieces of felt on the sides basically fell off. I didn’t think much of it until I put them back in and they just flopped down and wouldn’t stay up at all.
after mulling over the issue and how to fix it, I remembered I had chair leg slider felts. Now they were a little thick, but I know the glue on those don’t mess around. Cut a thin strip of felt, turn it sideways and cut about half the felt thickness off. To be honest, I thought that was going to be a tricky cut but went shockingly smooth.
Use a little rubbing alcohol to clean the register and stick it on behind the retention ****. Insert register into the dash felt first and your register will operate remarkable well!
