Testing values for abs system? 2018 f350

Hey guys and gals,

I have a abs light on in my 2018 f350, I have replaced the left rear sensor which is what the code showed it was, and it did not solve the issue. I have visually inspected the wires as far as I can, and I cannot find anything wrong. I believe the abs sensors are also connected in with a few other systems in the truck, but the code that keeps popping up is for the left rear abs.

I was wondering if anyone in here would know anything about the testing values on what I should see for voltage, or resistance, or whatever, coming down to where the abs sensor plugs in.

Additionally if anyone has any other tips or tricks for tracking down abs lights in a newer vehicle, please pass them on! It is to the point where it is annoying me enough that I want to repair it.

It would be better to have a scope that you can read the waveform from the sensor. Since that is probably out of the question, what you can do is pull the sensor again, and inspect the teeth that it reads. Or pull the rear axle apart and make sure they are ok. If your truck is rusty, rust can pile up under the sensor and rust can also deteriorate the teeth on the axle so it can't read them. And you always have the problem of lousy aftermarket parts.

What is the actual fault code from the ABS system? Without that, can't get to proper diagnostic routine.

Never thought of that, thanks. Truck isn't really rusty at all, but it does get used on gravel and I use it as a truck so that's a high chance those teeth could be rusty.

I'll have to rescan it on Monday with the fancy scanner at work. It was for the left rear ABS wheel speed sensor.

Which I did replace with an OEM one.

I'll post the exact code on Monday if that would help though.

Sorry it took forever for me to find time to scan it. The code is c0037-14 left rear wheel speed sensor.

DTC C0037-14 means there is a circuit fault related to the LR wheel sensor, it is not a definitive diagnosis of any component. The sensor itself is only one of the possibilities. The others are that there is an open circuit, a short to ground, or a defective ABS module.

Pulled up the 2018 shop manual for the ABS system (for the first time) and, under the troubleshooting section for the ABS system, was greeted by this text: "Guided Routine available in the on-line Workshop Manual." Same for the 2017 shop manual. Looked in the 2016 manual and it does include the diagnostic procedure. Compared the schematics for the LR sensor circuit between the '16 & '18 models and they appear to be mostly the same. My conclusion is that the 2016 procedure will apply with some adjustments. You might do best by getting a short term subscription to Ford's online system for your truck to remove any ambiguity. Available at www.motorcraftservice.com. A 3-day sub is somewhere between $20 and $25 last I looked.

Do you have a multimeter and are you familiar with its use?

Thank you so much for the help. I am fairly familiar with how to use a multi meter and I have a fairly decent one. I will check that site out when I get a bit of free time to do some diagnosis and report back with what I find.
