I have been lerking around for awhile and now have a question with my first real issue. I have a 2004 F-350 SD with the 6.0 PSD, it has been an awsome truck and I love it. I had to put ball joints on this past week as the drivers side did not pass inspection, the truck has 46,000 miles. The local garage that I used due to dealership wanting way too much in labor rate had a problem with the hub off. Now that it is back together the ABS light is on and I have no ABS. When you start the truck the ABS light blinks once and then stays on. Is this a bad ABS speed sensor caused possibly damaged when the hub would not come apart? I have read many threads on the ABS problem and someone mentions the blinking as a code, but not what it might be.
You need to get the trouble code read with a good reader that can do ABS codes.
Otherwise, it's just shooting in the dark.
I'd check the ABS sensor connections in the front first, it's just possible they didn't get the connector back together right. It's pretty hard to break the sensors in any way that's not obvious.
If it was done by a shop, I'd bring it back to them and say "fix it, you broke it".
If the ABS light is coming on and staying on right after you start the engine, without even moving, there's a sensor disconnected, broken wire, or bad sensor. But like I said, it's probably a bad connection.
If the ABS light were to come on after driving it, that would mean the sensors test out OK, but then don't sense the wheels moving when driving. (which means the sensor isn't back in the hole correctly)
