Later model weatherstrips
What I am planning, is to extend the pinch weld that goes around door opening, and which you glued old style weatherstrip to, across the bottom of cab following parallel to the door sill, and use that extension to slide the metal core of the newer style weatherstrip over. Has anyone done this before?
Extend that pinch weld...
Along the sill, and press metal rib over that to act as the pinch weld extension like on the later model trucks.
I looked at some examples, not just Fords either. OEM on a dent just has the inner "flap" glued to the floor and under carpet or floor mats, is also under the sill. I thought I was gonna make a mess, but really the worry was worse than the actual job. I used a 3M black weatherstrip seal, it's a "contact" adheasive. Was really easier than expected. First put a ribbon of it along inside of rubber "flap" part of seal, then run a bead or ribbon around door sides and top, saved the bottom for last. Let it skim over, then press into place ... hold a few seconds, pull a strip of masking tape over it from inside to outside, it really went fast once started.
