Hello, I currently own a very nice 1982 F - 150 stepside. I am 45 years old and owned a few Bullnose trucks over the course of my twenties. I recently have come across several Bullnose model trucks on line that have what looks like a chrome vinyl piece of trim that boarders the interior door panels. I have never seen this on any models I owned. Did certain Lariat or XLT models, only certain years have this chrome trim piece ? Or is this custom ?

Thank you for reply, Dave. Yes, i’m aware of stepside/flare side. Bad habit. It has its original 351 Windsor with it’s original 4 speed overdrive transmission. 4 wheel drive with factory AC. No tilt steering and no cruise control. Also has a factory tachometer:
My 81 Custom did not have the chrome and dont know of the Ranger I got for parts as the doors were sold before I got it.
I just did a quick fix up of my panels as I was going to replace them down the road but it is hard to find them for slider locks so I may end up doing a better job on them.
I just got the arm rests and slider locks, both for the same side as that is all you can get.
So when warmer and have time that is my next project.

Oh I meant to ask what is holding the tail gate closed on your truck?
It should have chains with hooks that you can get from LMC, mine were used from junk yard my brother send me with the gate.
Yes the hooks should go in from the bottom up and out so they dont bounce out and unlock.
The black hose is bike tube for $3 and I have a lot left over if needed for the next truck.
I cut a small drain hole in the bottom.

Yes, I’m aware of the chains. It’s all there, minus the chains. I’m going to make my own chains as soon as this weather picks up around here and I’ve been working a lot. A cotter pin is keeping the gate closed. I’m going the bare chain route. I’m going to use a clear vinyl paint protector made by 3M to protect from scratches. I like the idea of using bare chains. I already bought all of the parts. Stainless steel.
It was just installed on certain trucks. I’m not sure which packages had it but my 86 XLT Lariat has it.
NICE truck by the way!!!!
Thank you, the truck has a very sentimental attachment to it. My grandfather bought my first vehicle for me. It was a clone to this new one. I sold the first one for next to nothing many years ago and regretted it for a long time. My grandfather was a father figure to me and he just passed away last December at the age of 93. I’ve been looking, found a few nice ones out there. But, no identical paint. Price, etc wasn’t on point. Until I found this beauty. Identical to my first truck. Here is my original, this was taken in 1996. The blizzard of 96. I dug this truck out 5 days later, look at the hood, lol ! Paint color was the same. But, it looks dark blue for some reason in this picture. 26 years ago, I was 20 years old then.
When you do the chains post up some pictures how you do it as I and other would like to see it.
Till I got my gate I was looking to make one from the rear cab wall of my parts truck, roll over and I took the AC firewall for my truck, so is no good for anything else. I was going to make custom latches from seat belt clips to fit inside.
I dont remember if LMC has SS or is it chrome besides the steel latch / chain assy.?
I hear you on working a lot, 14+ hour x 6 days. I am off today because the roads could of had ice from the snow fall last night and driving 10,000 gallons of LP would not be wise LOL But going out at 2am Sunday with 3 loads.

I will post pictures. For your reference. They make a clear 3M vinyl protector to apply to paint. You can buy it in different lengths and widths on Ebay. I’ve used it many times to protect my motorcycle tank from belt buckle scratches, etc. It’s a great product for the tailgate, under the chains. Once applied, you can’t see it. It’s very durable. Last long, easy to apply and remove without damaging paint. Very affordable too. It’s also a great product to use on rocker panels and front fender dog legs to protect paint from rock chips. What is the LMC part store you referenced ?
I know of the 3M film you talk of, I did body work back when this first cam out,
Before that there was a clear spray you could use on the rockers and dog legs that did the same thing.
Me it was just as easy to repaint it LOL
Dennis Carpenter has some parts that are a little better like inner door panels as they are made from Ford molds https://www.dennis-carpenter.com/
I believe LMC buy some of their parts from DC.
DC also has some part that LMC dose not like the slider lock that my truck uses on the door panels.
I just bought the locks, gas tank door rubber bumpers, arm rest and door panel plastic clips that I think I have but not sure where I put them LOL
When it get warmer and I have time the locks & redo the panels will be worked on as I did a fast job on the panels thinking I would replace them, cant find them for my year truck.

I know what you mean about it being sentimental. My son is restoring his grandfather’s 80 F100 Custom Cab. He gave it to him literally on his death bed. Most everyone has tried to get him to customize it in one way or another but he won’t hear of it. He’s putting it back exactly like his grandpa had it which is pretty much all original.
