So I had my injection pump rebuilt by Justin at R&D and re-installed it, however it now needs starting fluid to start and it just sputters and smokes. I tried to keep the position of everything the same on re-instalation. I've been told that it may be the gear timing but that doesn't really make sense in my head. Like how would the two gears timing have gotten off when the two gears have been married the entire time.... I should mention that I am the god only knows how manyith owner and the engine does look to have been torn down and re-built at some point. I'll provide a video of the smoke for reference.
Did you remove the IP timing gear in front of the intake, or did you just remove the IP? If you removed the timing gear you need to make sure it's timed properly to the gear on the front of the cam. I think it's just lining up 2 marks to ensure the timing is correct.
If you just removed the IP you can loosen it and rotate it to the passenger's side of the truck to advance your timing. Hopefully you can get it far enough advanced that it starts easily but you really need a piezoelectric timing adapter or luminosity probe to properly time the IP.

thank you for your help! I ended up checking the timing on the pump and realized that I had installed it like 10 dimes retarded. So I linked it up dead on and now I have to wait for the batteries to charge up to start and test.
