I would just do the Oil pan gasket.. but I dont see where
it's leaking.. I'm thinking.. waiting.. maybe Bill Ford will
come by and trade me for a new Ford. Since he loves
the ones that have been and proven to be "FORD TOUGH!"
and Mine has.. It's go serious miles on it.. in many, many
states.. and still going.. Just a couple of sensors..
and these gaskets.. So.. I'm holding out.. I think Bill

yeah thanks i would liek to keep my stock stereo so it looks old syle and not nice and new. im have a bigger problem now i cant see how i can ever do this as a job i think i messed up the exaust seal on my truck were the manifold hooks to the y pipe it leaks really badly. their was a donut(ring gasket) that cam ewith the exaust manifold gasket kit---this wouldnt fit to make a proper seal. i dont want to remove the manifod again can i just dropped down the y pipe and get some kinda seal.?? please help
well I just did my 88 F-250 300 today, whew, a pain but not impossible. some things I would recommend..
DEFINATELY clean the entire engine before attempting it, it was impossible tokeep the gasket clean for installation. second, be sure to have a 1/2" chisel and a small pocketknife available to remove the old gasket. that was definately the most difficult part of the job. and to any of you did this all by yourself.. Wow, I am impressed. I got the felpro blue gasket (Which I definately recommend) I couldnt get the clips to work all that well.
It took me about 3 1/2 hours with a couple of breaks in between.
other things, a 10" socket extention with a locking bit, is definately helpful, as is a ratchet with a pivot at the head.
sounds good. probably whould take me 9 or more hours to compleate considerig it is taking me tons of time just to change a manifold. thats the sakme kind of gasket i used but i dint installl it myself. 1 peice blue rubber felpro gasket.
and i stilc ant get the damn "donut" in to seal the y pipe. hopefully i can get it done by the end of today
Replacing the gasket is a p.i.t.a. but take your time and you can do it.
When I replaced my oil pan gasket, I didn't find those little potioning pegs helpful at all (probably because I was under there for a while and brain not clicking).
I did, however found that using a little thin thread to tie the gasket secure in every bolt hole made things easier and kept the gasket from falling in the inside of the pan.
Of course I took out the thread as I loosely installed the bolts one at a time.
