Code 96 after KOER
Anyways I put the original distributor back in. Same problem as before, the rpms however worked better. Than I put the distributor from the 1991 4.9L in and the motor will spark sometimes, it will not run however. The rpms do move around between 300-500 rpms when cranking.
Both distributors were installed with the motor at TDC on number 1 cylinder. Timing on the dampener was at 0*.
I also check the KOEO and came up with (keep in mind the motor is about 7*C and hasn't run);
Code 21 - ECT out of self test range 0.3 to 3.7 volts.
Code 24 - ACT sensor out of self test range 0.3 to 3.7 volts.
Continuous Memory was code 54 - ACT sensor signal is greater than the Self-Test maximum of 4.6 volts.
So do I need to move the distributor around? What could I try next?
Also, back probe the red wire on the coil with Key on/Engine off (KOEO) with a multimeter set to the 20V setting. Whats your reading?

But guess what!!!!
I took all of the spark plugs out. Wire wheeled them. They were black. #3 and #4 were the most gummy. #5 and #6 were somewhat loose. 5th was the looses.
After wirewheeling them all and putting them back in the truck started right up. I am typing to you 2 minutes after it started! I just checked it is still running!!!
I am quite hesitant to drive it around. I want to have it start a few times before I take it out for a spin to warm it up. I also need to come up with an ECM thru firewall seal. As the 30 year old seal is crap. Right now its metal to plastic.
First time I could test the alternator. It is putting out 45amps at idle!
So I relized the test only needs to be with the motor warmed up. With the KOEO I got a 67. Not of big fan of putting my foot in the whole time. And than I got a continuous memory of 53
TPS circuit has intermittently failed above maximum 4.5 volts.
not sure when it got that intermittent fail as the truck has not run for a long time.
