I like the switchblade fob. I have a soft leather Super Duty keychain on it and that’s it, no other keys. I don’t like a lot of bulk in my pockets and I like that it isn’t a key digging into my leg. My other keys (house, etc) are on a second keychain that I store in the console until needed.
Every time I get in the truck I lean over and flip the key out at my wife but she doesn’t find that as amusing as I do.
Nope. I didn’t know you could use Forscan to program keys…
Only for 2016 and older trucks. 2017+ you cannot. Ford changed the security system with the alumadutys. If you have 2 working keys you can program another using a procedure outlined in the owners manual, but if you do not have 2 working keys the dealer or a high end locksmith is your only option.
I just tried today on a 2017 that a buddy is working on. He ordered in the key from ford, thought maybe I could save him towing the truck to the dealer for programming. Forscan simply doesnt offer any option for such a thing, apparently programming these keys requires access to an online database that ford charges ~$6000 per year for third party access.
