62 F100 223 voltage regulator has 4 prong hook up. BFA prongs on one side and single prong back of ignition switch. I am doubtful of its operation so I would like to replace. I can only find the 3 prong offered on several parts websights, None have the 4th prong to to key switch. Will this be an issue? Perhaps new regulators have this internally taken care of.

You need to be a little more descriptive. Do you have a generator, "3 prong regulator"[ Arm, Fld, Bat] or alternator, "4 prong regulator [ I, A, S, F]. Since a generator uses residual magnetism to produce current it doesn't need any voltage input to work. An alternator needs voltage input in order to work. The "I" terminal supplies that voltage thru the charge indicator light. In your case if someone converted to an alternator, they may have connected the "I" ignition terminal to the ignition switch. Not the way it's supposed to be, but it will work.
Thank you for your reply. I believe you nailed the issue because the truck has not run in decades and previous owner modified the charging system to a 60 amp unit. I am not sure if it was a gen or alt. I now believe it was an alt and the wire from regulator to switch had been added since it was not in the harness. I now have a generator and will install regulator w/o the switch wire.
