I have my firewall cleaned up as much as I want to get it. To preserve so I do not have to keep messing with it and fighting back any rust coming back I was thinking of coating with a 2k Clear coat. Just the firewall, not the whole truck. I don’t like that look.
I would agree with Martin. Clear coat is fine for new paint designed to use it. To put it over old paint looks phony at best. As nice as it cleaned up, it should continue to look like that in an underhood environment for a long time. I might recommend rubbing in a good coat of quality carnauba wax to seal it up, but that's it. Let it look natural, as Henry intended. Your efforts were worthwhile, that firewall looks fantastic.
