tow c6 without damage
I need to move my 1973 F100 about three miles to my new workshop. It has 390 FE and C6 transmission. I’ve been told I can pull it with a tow strap as long as I go less than 10 MPH. That’s a whole lot cheaper than a trailer. Any suggestions? The truck has not moved in 6 years and I am worried about damaging the transmission.

I'd just take my 1/2" wrench and undo the rear U-joint, tape the cups good, and tie the loose end up off the roadway. Might not be neccessary for a three mile tow, but why chance it?

X2 on remove the rear d/s to prevent any problems. Yes just remove it from the axle R&P (yoke side) and tie it up like suggested.
X3 on have a smart tower and toe-e doing the driving. With a soft strap and no p/s or p/b's, both parties have to know what is going on.
