I have a 2000 f250 7.3 with stock injectors and turbo and hydra tune done by a local shop. When I step on it pretty good on performance tune and then after I let off the throttle it chugs like it’s about to die. I don’t think it’s a turbo fart. It’s more like the engine feels like it’s about to die. It idles normal after 5-10 seconds.
also the power doesn’t seem to come on very quick compared to some issues of my friends trucks with similar build.
Throttle tip in feel can vary greatly depending on your setup. What all has been done to the truck? Stock turbo?
Leaky uppipes would be a first guess along with potential boost leaks. Either of those will kill performance. But first let’s get this off throttle stumble sorted out.
I’ll look into monitoring ICP. I’m new to diesels altogether so I’m trying to take it one step at a time. Is there an obd2 scanner you suggest? I am wanting to build up this truck to be a good tow and daily driver.
I put a new stock turbo in a few months ago and I don’t seem to be having boost leaks but I will check that.
I’ll try to add a video of the truck doing what I described in the original post.
I will probably just get the good OBDII connector. I hate buying crap they may or may not work right. Also, I don't have any android devices. Is there something that will work on IOS or should I just go with a laptop configuration?
Im headed out of town for the weekend but will try to get some vehicle data together next week to share as well as some pictures.
I ordered this one for use with iPhone. It’s not been connected to the truck yet but does work with my other vehicles using their included app. I had plans for this which included leaving connected to one of my vehicles which is why I opted for the more expensive model. This one sleeps and does not drain battery.

Replaced Icp ipr ebp tube and sensor and wires in a new plug to the driver side valve cover harness. Issue went away. It also feels like I’m getting more low end power. I wasn’t able to run the truck and record icp but there was a code that indicates fault on icp.
now I’m going to replace up pipes to see if I can get egt down a bit. And starting to think about some more clean up I can do to make it even better.
Seems like everything was just about perfect for a week. Went out this morning and the truck wont start. Scan tool is scheduled to get here in about a month so that wont help me today. Feels like the truck is building up pressure like its about to start and then looses it and then empty cranking. Could this be Cam Position Sensor issue? Seems like when I fix one thing the weak link shows up. somewhere else.
