Hi Everyone,
I took our 2019 F350 in yesterday for an oil change and they performed this update (20E07). There seems to be a lot of confusion about it. Not sure if I could have prevented the install. Did I make a mistake in not trying?

Exactly what it does. How does it affect mileage, and is it country wide?
Bill
Well, I don't have the technical details on exactly what it does, all I can tell you is that it is a reprogram to bring the SCR calibration into compliance. Ford was required to do it and I assume it is country wide since the systems it affects are required in all parts of the country. Opting out though would probably only be an issue in certain states that require emissions inspections.
The reprogram affects the PCM, TCM, NOX and PMS. My opinion is that the changes made initially cause some to notice a MPG drop. It has been my experience, with my truck, that it soon returns to normal. There have been other side effects reported that I'm sure you have read about, like increased DEF use and high idle after several minutes of idling without touching the brake or accelerator. I haven't noticed either of those things on mine. One day I might let it idle for a few minutes just to see.
Thank you for your informative reply. I greatly appreciate it. If anything deviates from what your saying, I give a hollar and we`ll compare observations.
Thanks again
Bill
My mileage tanked after having it done and has stayed tanked. But in CA, I could not refuse to have it done or I wouldn't be able to get my registration. Mileage went down 3MPG
I just got my recall letter today. To date I have had NO problems with my SCR system and am leery about making changes. SCR problems can cause the truck to go into crawl mode or whatever they call it. I think I'll opt out but will continue to monitor this thread to see what other's experiences are.

The recall has nothing to do with SCR problems, it is just a recalibration to comply with emissions requirements.

I don't think he meant it repairs any existing SCR "problems" but that recalibrating the system may cause undue SCR problems... Big chance of that for sure, we all know the DEF systems may work but also can be a huge frustration.
Thats my take. Do you have any additional information about what the calibration to comply actually does?
TIA.
I am going to follow BlueRidgeMan and hold off on this too. I am Leary about ford doing any reprogramming to the system.
All seems to be working well 56,000 miles into it all.
I was concerned about the "upgrade " and was prepared for the worst. However the truck ttowed perfectly with the same or slightly better gas mileage though the mountain passes on I-5 without issue,
Working so far for us
