My worst fears have come to pass. Yesterday I received the recall notice numbered 08B06 & 08B07. Venturi & regen of DPF. I called my local FORD dealer and asked for an appointment to perform this work. Clearly this service writer said, bring it in, and we will try to get it in a couple days! I wanted to go nutz, but I said, no, I will not leave my KR truck in your garage without an appointment. He said, we have a couple 6.4's in the shop, and 12 more waiting to come in. You decide. I decided: "SON, you will not get me leaving my fully loaded F-350 in your shop on an if come, first come basis." I will call again tomorrow. Then I will call another dealer. Then I will make a few more telephone calls. For 13 months and 11,000 miles, I have been happy with my truck. NOW I AM SCARED.

9,000 miles on mine, very happy with my truck. I agree, I would not leave mine with out an appointment either. Going to wait for some feed back from some who have had it done.
These are the 2 issues that have been discussed for quite some time now. No problem if you wait on them till your next oil change. Like suzuki1750, I had mine done at my last oil change. 2 hours total. (including the oil)
Now that the official letters have gone out, there will be a rush on the dealers. I'm sure the diesel tech's are a bit overwhelmed.
Cheers

man i hate service writers like that... i switched teams at my dealership i gotta take my stang to... (ours has colored teams, incase yalls doesnt) My original team (red) i could never get ahold of the guy, he never seemed to know the status of my car... and when i made the appointments for FIRST THING IN THE MORNING... theyd never even looked at it even when i called at 3 in the afternoon.. (they opened at 7am.. my appt was for 7am...) when i couldnt get an answer outta them i made dad call and talk to them... he reamed that guy good... specially since that day was the 3rd time id had problems with this guy.. and since the car has rammed a curb and messed up a rim if theyd found a problem at 5:30pm when theyre sevice section closes they wouldnt have been able to order the parts till the next day since the parts dpt closed at 4:30 there... (good thing was they didnt need to order parts and were able to fix the alignment..)
next time i had to go up there i talked to one of the other team leaders/ service guys.. he was alot nicer... i got straight answers from him.. even quick return calls when he didnt have an answer for me... and the car was always in on time at the time i got my appt for... since then ive been with the Green team and never looked back...
My 450 was at the dealer for 1 day to have a thermostat replaced, oil change, and the recall reflash. I didn't make an appointment, I just showed up. Sounds like you need to try another dealer.
I am glad to get a computer upgrade from Ford. It is good to know the engineers have looked to improve and upgrade a truck they have already sold. This recall will cost Ford thousands and thousands of dollars for customer satisfaction. It is unfortunate that the 6.4 will not last past 2009 due to relationships between Ford and Navistar as well as EPA (government) mandated emission requirements. The longer the engine is being used the more we will get the improvements to software and hardware for our trucks.
Got my recall notice Friday, Called Jarrett Gordon Ford in Davenport,Fl Monday and made a appointment for Tuesday Morning (today). Took in in, left it, they called @ 2Pm said it was ready. They explained to me exactly what the recalls were and what I should expect. We are snow birds here and this is not my selling dealer. That never came up and the service was perfect.
I have an appointment for tomorrow morning at Nextran Truck Center, a full service Ford truck dealer in the morning. Talked to a real truck service guy, maybe he even was the service manager and not afraid to talk to customers. I will post my results, but this outfit is a real truck dealership. Enough said!
I spent a few hours this morning. They were able to do the reflash, programming. I fixed their TV in the driver's lounge. I was then visited to be advised the last VENTURI was used yesterday, when I made my appointment. Still, I was extremely happy with the handling of my truck. BUT, we have to face facts, that these "owner satisfaction", aka recalls do not warrant the best diesel mechanics. Don't kid yourself. A master tech can make a lot more doing a major repair, than these "owner satisfaction" problems. I want to fill up the tank tomorrow, and see if there is any difference in fuel mileage...
I have just recieved my notice for the reflash. It should go well. but the last time i had my truck in, they did the venturi replacement. well low and behold my overflow holding tank cap was just sitting there. i was kinda wondering why my truck was not holding the heat all that well for a couple of weeks. so just a warning to you who own any vehicle. i guess it is up to you to make sure the work is completed even though it should not be.
I read the board here and so does the parts guy @ SALERNO DUANE FORD in Summit NJ. They always have parts needed BEFORE the notices come out. Venturi T for example. Anyway I needed an oil change (they always take me on short notice) they flashed me at the same time and the truck has been no problem.EZ. It's been about 2-3 weeks. These guys are great.
