Question about DEF heater replacment

I own a 2016 F250 with the 6.7.
About a year ago the DEF heater was replaced by an independent garage with a good rep. They do a lot of fleet work for trucks with the same drive train.
I got the letter from Ford about the extended warranty on the system and submitted paperwork to get a full refund of the work performed.

The truck is now leaking DEF on the passenger side at a pretty good rate whenever the engine is running. I suspect it is the hose that feeds the DEF into the pump that sprays into the exhaust stream.

Question: During the replacement of the DEF heater, would this hose need to be removed from the injector pump and could faulty reassembly have led to the present leak?

Any other concerns I should have?

I'm sure someone else with the R&R experience will chime in, but @The Bone I know replaced his heater himself.

there are concerns with the use of non motorcraft def heaters which fail at a much faster rate than motorcraft ones.

The replacement one was a Ford product, as I recall Ford would reimburse only if FoMoCo products were used.

I have been told the "Redactor Pump" leaking. They say the DEF has leaked back to the DEF Heater and there may be damage to the heater as a result of the corrosive nature of the DEF. Redactor Pump replacement will run about 1K.
Seems I have a BOAT for a pickup....Break Out Another Thousand....

Well I picked it up and they gave me the original redactor pump. It had a small crack close to a hose connection right where there is a mold flash/seam.
The pump was covered in that white crystal formation that the DEF leaves when it evaporates.
They cleaned up the DEF heater and said there was no apparent damage to it.

On the road again...

I did replace my heater myself. it was a challenge because the tank was full. I got mine from these guys. https://www.oemford.parts/oem-parts/...wtdjgtZGllc2Vs
It's still in the truck and working fine If Ford is going to continue the warranty the heater than I would let them do it but parts are getting hard to find. I wanted a oil change and my dealer had no Motorcraft full synthetic oil. can you believe it OIL ?

Yes, I can believe it. I'm now buying whatever is available at a decent price. My preference is the Valvoline but I've been buying the Rotella T6 when Valvoline isn't available. There was no Valvoline to be found within 50 miles of me at NAPA stores. A store in Wyoming had an entire pallet of it. I bought six jugs and had my brother pick them up.

Yep sure can. I have read there's a shortage of diesel oil. I haven't experienced it myself but from what I've seen online and read here, it's real.

Check that... I have noticed shortages at my local NAPAs.

There was a T6 shortage last year and now there is Valvoline PBE shortage this year. NAPA told me those that were using T6 switched to PBE and now T6 is available but PBE is harder to source. I called one NAPA store looking for Valvoline PBE, they had to source 4 gallons from several different stores for me.
