2006 5.4 3v, i got everything lined up, links are all matched up, crank shaft gear dot is at 6oh clock & the keyway is at the 11 oclock. Just wanted to double check this looks right before i pull the cam phasers and chains off to put on new chains and phasers ect.
have you got the TOOL to hold cams in place after the chain is removed ?
no i will be using a pair of vice grips to hold said cams in place, Im just curious if every thing looks good to remove the chains ect... all links line up so i assume evey every thing should remain the same when i install the new chains ect
Since you are changing phasors -have you invested in the toothed holding tool for phasor . They are fairly cheap and are worth it to hold phasor tightly . You need it for taking off and 2 step torqueing on install that's 4 times on each engine . One of the biggest fails on this engine is roller followers and bad lashs . The newer ones have a smaller hole more pointed at the roller..
Once that center of the roller is worn it will be subject to be thrown out of position , possibly damaging cam . Mine threw number eight one of the intakes clear of the cam at 130k miles .
Failure to clean the oil pan and oil pickup of fibers from ground up guides will result in a lot of damage due to low oil flow. I would not do this job without replacing oil pump with a melling hv.
