So I have a 99 F-150 5.4l Windsor. Spun a rod bearing, so rebuilding. I can't get my hands on the camshaft holding tools. So had to do the best I can without them. After installing the new timing chains, guides and tensioners. The double shinny links on the crankshaft, the single on the camshafts all lined up ok. The left camshaft mark was supposed to be at 11 o'clock and the right at 12 o;clock and it was. But after turning over a few times this is what I had. I tuned over a few times did not feel and resistance. I know this is an interference motor. I just want to make sure it is right before going any further. Thanks
Don't quote me on the exact number, but I once heard you have to turn the crank something like 27 times before the marks will all line up again. So you might want to try that but start watching around 22 turns so you don't go past it.
In your picture the right side(looking at the picture) cam mark is at about 11 o'clock which is correct I believe but the left cam is at 1 o'clock and from the info i have it is supposed to be 12 o'clock. I just want to get it right the first time. Don't want to be trying to change it once the engine is back in the truck.

If you're on the links correctly then it will all line up as designed.
So I finally got my hands on a camshaft holding and positioning tool, could not get the crankshaft tool. But this is my final result. Now I rotated the crank 80 times and the links never lined up on the marks on the cam or crank again. But I do believe I am correct with my marks and positioning of the cams and crank. What do you all think? Thanks
Looks right to me. Dont worry about rotating the engine to check it. If you put the single link on the crank and the double link on the cams then its right.

Thanks70f100longbed, Looks like my pictures showed up. I just want to make sure it is right! This is not my first engine but it is my first ford engine. It would be a pain to do it in the truck I think. I appreciate everyone's help!!!
