Excuse my ignorance. How will I recognize and access replies?

At the top right hand corner of the page is a box that says "Welcome Phillip" or whatever your sig name is. That is also where you will find any messages that have been sent to you. I also beleive that every time you are sent a message, you should receive an email to inform you of it also.

I visit another forum that uses this format or software program. That is how it works for me.

Seems if I e-mail my address in a PM to another member it still gets edited out. Is this correct?

yes it is because as I understand it a pm is treated like a post just that only one person reads it, but the bots, or spiders can also see it. ifyou want to sent your address I thinkyou have to use the email to member option.

(say put the first part of your address on one line, and the @ on another)
Depends on who wrote the bot. I think it's common to remove all return and newline characters before searching for email addresses. (At least that's how I would do it). Then the bot would still catch it.

The email address removal is quite understandable and welcome. But why can't URL addresses be posted in the forum? There is a lot of valuable information on outside websites, but the forum software won't allow even a posting of the name, much less a link.

Thanks.

You can post URLs here, but I believe you need over 25 posts before you are allowed to post URLs. Same as with posting images.

URLs can be posted by users with more than 25 threads. This is to help stop spammers from registering with the sole purpose of posting links to their sites. Also, please see our terms page about what kind of linking is allowed.

I found this out while asking for an invitation to "G-Mail" :

If you send your E-mail address by using the e-mail forwarding system here, it will still remove the address if it contains the "at" sign.

The remedy for that is to type your username and then beneath it type your e-mail service as in:

Greywolf
webmail.net

-or-

Greywolf
webmail.com

(the above are just examples)

PS: KPayne- I see that the road to paradise still has a few potholes in it
oh well, we can't please everyone.

The places I remember when I first started surfing and going to message forums would absolutely apall any of the few who are a tad annoyed that a modern board doesn't do everything including the dishes and window washing automatically. And many of the people at those places should probably have been arrested...
(FWIW)
