C4 trans odd issue?

C4 trans odd issue?
So i have a 79 F100 302/C4
It's currently got a slightly high idle so i am sure that could be some of it but I wanted to get more experienced opinions.
When i shift in reverse or into drive (but not from drive to 2 or 1) the trans make a weird almost electric motor type noise it's hard to explain (I'll try and get a video tomorrow) and it shifts with like a sorta lurch. Now when driving it shifts fine though if i am honest i haven't gone much past 25 as I am still shaking down other stuff.
I know really nothing about auto trans but i do recall a vacuum modulator being mentioned?
Thoughts?

Is that what our curb idle should be? I wasn't sure where it's supposed to be (i got this truck a week ago so still learning) I'll report back
