Starting/Fueling Issues
I had varnished injectors and brought the vehicle in for injector replacement. Along with the replacement, the tech had trouble starting the truck and replaced the fuel pump. I got the truck back and drove it a few times. Then when I went to start it one day, it would not start. It cranks but there is no sign of any fuel getting to the engine. I checked the fuel pump and it is turning on. Fuel filter is fine. What should I do to try and see what the problem may be? My guess is this is something electrical.
The other issue I have is it's currently stuck in 4-wheel drive and can't get out of it (this was the issue i had last time I was driving it) and I believe this issue is related to leaking vacuum hoses per things I read before, as all the symptoms to that were present. Saying this JUST INCASE it can give any possible hints to the startup issue.
First stop is get FORScan or FORScan Lite and the reader they tell you to use. Pull all codes and record them, clear all codes, pull codes again and let us know what you have.
Are you getting the WTS?
How are you determining the fuel is fine?
Are you well above 1/4 tank of fuel? See Hutch/ Harpoon mod for further details.
Is there any smoke?
What oil are you using?
How old is the oil?
Any additives in the oil? (never in a 7.3)
Have you tried plugging the heater in for a couple hours before starting?
Are the batteries reading 12.6 volts resting for a few hours? Check them both and they should match, if not this is a place to start.
Do you have a USP adapter with a voltage meter in it plugged into the cigar lighter? Are you staying above 10.5 volts when cranking? Not sure which year but there is a change in the PCM from 10 to 10.5 volts required or it shuts the game down.
Have you checked the tech folder??
