As a used vehicle tech, we get a lot of different brand vehicles. Quite often get get F150s and usually the coolant reservoir is a bit low, sometimes below the minimum mark. For this generation, Ford recommends Ford Orange. However, everytime I ask for coolant and it gets ordered from the Ford Dealer, it's been Ford Yellow. Usually when these trucks come in and the coolant has been stopped off, it's been with Ford Yellow and not Orange.
Did Ford update their specs or something in recent years or does Yellow now meet the same specs. Color usually indicates the formula. Green being the old school type. Gold was a Hybrid Organic additive technology (HOAT) Orange should be an Organic Additive Technology (OAT). You never want to mix HOAT and OATs other wise you end up with a mess (gunk build up and what not).
Sweet thanks! Wasn't sure since the Yellow reminded me too much of the old green since it had a similar tint. Also good to know that I can run it in the Edge we got to replace our 2010 Mountaineer that the engine decided it no longer wanted to work.
