Hi all, I'm in the process of doing a column shift to floor shift conversion, as my column shift busted and is stuck in third gear. My truck is a '73 F-100 302 w/rat-g trans. I have everything installed but the shift rods to the new shifter assembly, and am unsure what configuration the shift levers should be in a neutral position so I can properly attach the rods. I obviously can't use the column shift to put it in neutral. I read somewhere about "neutral detent", and I assume that means both shift levers should be parallel vertically. Is this correct? I've attached pictures so you can see the current position the levers are in.

Make sure truck cannot roll or move. Remove the round shift arms from the levers. You can move the levers by hand back and forth and feel neutral detent. If one lever is in gear the other lever will not move. Just move the lever that will move to the detent. The transmission will not go into 2 gears at once. You will feel the neutral detent at the middle of the levers travel. Hope this helps, sound confusing but it's not.
