I had a quick question about my shift Indicator. I have searched long and hard in the forums and this seems to be a problem that only I'm experiencing. I swapped out the stock FXM in my 67 f100 for a c4 out of a 68 just simply because it was already rebuilt. But now my indicator is way off. Park is where park should be, but the shift positions are so close that I can shift through all gears between park and neutral on the shift Indicator. Did I do something wrong or do I need to adjust something somewhere?
Was the c4 set up for a floor shifter? Sounds like the shifter arm that comes out of the transmission might be too short. I know that the floor shifter C4s have a different setup than the column shift ones.
I had the same issue with my truck which was converted to a C6 from a 4 speed floor shift. I'm not sure what year the column is (it does have the neutral switch provision in it) but the trans is a later model, probable from the 90s. I shortened the arm on the column by drilling a new hole closer the the shaft but it still wasn't enough so I made an extension for the lever on the transmission. It took several tries to get the indicator to line up.

Copy. So I may need to extend the shift arm on the transmission to get it to line up right?
The problem may be in the shift lever at the transmission. Levers in a Econoline were Econoline numbers. Levers in a pickup were pickup numbers. Ford did not list lengths or differences.

When you take those levers off I suggest changing the seal and o-ring. Yours are leaking. I believe both are still available from Ford.
D5AZ7B498A shift shaft seal.
386078-S kick down lever o-ring.
Awesome. Thank a million for the part numbers. I had noticed the leak a while ago but haven't done it yet due in part to being too busy slash too lazy. Lol.
