21' f250 6.7 Diesel. Approx 21,300 miles. I can hear a humming sound in the cab when going slow through parking lots or sitting still. Sounds like a fuel pump whine. Got under the truck and it's not power steering or anywhere near the front. It's definitely coming from inside the fuel tank. I put my hand on the tank and it's also sounding like it's missing or sucking air off and on. The same sound as the fuel water separator on the frame makes when you drain it and then cycle the key on and off to fill it back up. Like an air/water mix in pipes sound. I always get fuel from good stations and use the ford PM 22 additive once or twice a month.
I'm gonna drain some fuel from the water separator and see if that changes anything, maybe got some air in the line? I don't think that's the issue though.
Thoughts....?
It is possibly a low pressure fuel pump issue. There is a TSB that might apply to your truck. Look up Ford TSB 21-2057. It's just a reprogram but I've read it doesn't always fix the concern.
Is the truck not running well, having power issues, not running smoothly???
If there were an issue with the fuel pump, or air in the line, it wouldn't run right.
Nothing seems to be affected, it drives and idles fine, no loss of power or acceleration issues. I'll check the TSB and see if that would be helpful. It's just an odd sound that hasn't been present until about a week ago.
I've got a trip coming up hauling an 8K trailer about 350 miles and just want to be sure nothing's wrong.

Well, it doesn't have air in the lines then.
And, the TSB doesn't say anything about any run failures with the fuel pump noise.
