I have 15x5.5 outtie wheels. I recently had them blasted and painted. Now I have one that the hubcap fits loose on. I lost a hubcap a couple days ago, never found it. In putting a replacement new hubcap on I notice it fits loose. I can remove the hub cap by hand. I tried another known good hub cap and it fits loose as well. Anybody know the best way to remedy this?
Got that sucker siliconed on for now.
I’m going to build the nub up with J-B weld and be careful how I take the cap on and off.
Just like more paint but harder 😊
How about building them up with a bead of actual weld and grind them down to fit?
That would be the best way as far as I know to remedy this but I just sunk a lot of dough I getting the wheels blasted and painted and welding on em would make me very sad.
So I will try a less destructive method first.
You can do that from the outside just as easy. Just hit it in a couple spots with a sharp punch and that will displace some metal. It has to go up, kind of like knurling, same as if you wanted to make a bearing race not spin in the hub.
