Starter issues. Tipps for roadside fix?

I am on the road in Scotland with my 6.0. For 3 days, the starter no longer spurts in, as soon as the engine is at operating temperature. (the gear rotates but does not move forward onto the flywheel).
6.4 starter, 2 years old , Motorcraft OE.
Tips for a repair on the road?
Thanks.

Can you locate any alternator/starter rebuild shops close by?

I am looking for. Cold it works, warm so far only after the third or fourth start attempt.

Yeah - you just don't need it to get worse! Your truck didn't pick the best day to make you look for an open local electrical shop!

Always worth trying, but I wouldn't pass up any rebuild shops!

Hammer tech I usually use for the starters not spinning, but if it works. It sounds like the solenoid is not fully pushing the gear forward.

In the UK, I'm not sure starter repair shops would have the parts for that, but it might be some things need cleaning or lube.

Damn....two years old?!!

I just replaced my starter for preventative maintenance reasons. The one that came out looks to be an original Visteon. 19 years and 252,000 miles. Same with the last 6.0. That one had 287,000 on the clock. They sure don't make them like they used to.

Two years old would be a rebuild. I don't buy rebuilt starters or alternators.

These days I wouldn't be so sure about that, Jack.

I bought new ones ( like attached) Jack.

Sometimes I feel overly precise, because I document all work on my vehicles exactly.
But here I see it again, it's worth it.
At this time I still believed that parts from ebay in the Ford original packaging also contain original parts.
I will mail the seller and post his reaction here.
The starter was installed by me in April 2020, mileage is a paltry 13K (long distance tours)
But what seems strange to me: the original starter from 2006 also had two or three times the same error on my vacation tour 2019 but only when it was warm!!! (upfueling stops, etc.)
That's why I had replaced it.
This new starter now also makes problems too, when the engine is warm.
Why do the starters have problems when warm?

That is the time range they should work.

One thing (from my perspective) is to never buy anything from Pensacola Fuel Injection. I do not trust them to supply OEM products.

Unfortunately, I didn't know that at the time. The two starters came in a Ford original box.
Let's see how they react to my mail.

The OE starter is SA1178/7C3Z11002B from a Ford dealer and the price is over $320. The reman starters from a Ford dealer, SA1013RM, are just over $260 discounted. Of course, that's todays prices.

As Mark just stated, when someone says OEM, that's a wide open terminology. Every OE rebuilt starter is an OEM. And Pensacola Fuel Injection is on my ignore list.

I've never had starter fail when hot. They have always been an issue cold and the minimum has been about 10 years. Hot failure in service would be debris in the clearance areas - sliding surfaces, where a solenoid hits a stop, when the nose gear has debris.

I'd like to ask if the starter has a Visteon or FoMoCo sticker, but I've seen some remans that still have it on.
