Having a strange issue with my 01, junkyard fresh engine in it, it runs great, but it acts like it goes into a limp mode, which I don't think these have? Idk, hence why I'm asking..
All I have done is a hydra tuner and a 6637 style filter.. driving along, it will be driving just fine, spunky, and it will all of a sudden cut back and feel like a turd.. shut it off and start it again, same process, except it's completely random.. no ses light or anything, viewing with tunerpro, hpop pressure will be great before, and after it does whatever it is doing, the hpop pressure won't go over 1500.. I thought it was the ICP, unplugged it still does it... I've driven it 5 mile and 75 miles before it does it.. like I said, completely random..
I have a buddy this weekend that I think I can convince him to go for a ride with me and watch it through his autoenginuity, but I'm stumped here.. any input or ideas are welcome
It keeps driving, it will continue to accelerate, just very slowly.. like on the hotter tunes, it blows black before the turbo spools, same tune after, only a light haze.. another example, at 60 in 6th, I'm turning about 1500 rpms, if I floor it normally, it'll take off, albeit slow because of being under the turbo.. after, it'll barely keep 60, floored even..
How can I check the tps? And no fuel pressure gauge, it's on the to do list
I'm with Sous in thinking this sounds like a low fuel pressure issue, but one other thing that comes to mind is the chip. Are you sure it is well secured and the pins on the PCM are cleaned properly?
The chip has been on the truck since 2013? Never had this issue before, and my old engine had been going downhill for a while, wore out injectors, etc..
I'll clean out my pre pump filter tomorrow, wouldn't surprise me if it had some crap in it, thankfully I am hutch and harpponed, did it when I did my webasto install..
The truck has over 400k miles, not 100% sure as I ran around for about 3 or 4 years without recalibrating my speedo after I lifted it, and the odo is currently at 294k.. the fuel pump has been on there at least since 2012 and 146k miles lol, so it could be getting weak.. I'll try my pre filter first and see what it looks like
