Hello all 👋
First time, long time. I searched for a warranty specific thread and didn't come across one. If I missed it, my apologies for posting in the wrong area.
It seems like the intercooler outlet tube failing is a common occurrence? Question is, given the engine is still under warranty, if the tube explodes and damages the hood insulator as well wouldn't you think the hood insulator would be covered under the engine warranty?
Obviously, I'm dealing with that at the moment. The dealer states it falls in the bumper-to-bumper warranty (expired). I don't see it as a wear n' tear issue, ya know?
I may be wrong but I believe the 5 yr 60k warranty only applies to major component failure as in crank, pistons etc. external components as in radiator alternator and like you are sol.
Yep, was just told the tube isn't covered. It's not a big deal to replace but to claim it's not part of the engine...🤔
I would say saying the intake tube is part of the engine is like saying the batteries are part of the engine. When you purchase a long block you don't get a new intake tube.

Seems Ford considers the turbocharger as part of the engine...
Go with an aftermarket CAC cold pipe and call it a day. Lots of threads here on that very subject. I run a Rudy's pipe as well as many others. But I like SPE's full silicone pipe kit because the throttle body adapter has ports in it. But there are many options now for the cold pipe from the aftermarket. What year truck?

That's an upgrade I probably need to do. I proactively changed mine a couple years ago with another OEM unit before a trip and kept the original as a backup. Problem is these things can break at the worst time.

Yeah you've been here long enough to see, can't remember which member it was here, but his went and he was in my neck of the woods in Buffalo where a local dealer here is where he got a replacement pipe.
But personally I'd go with SPE's pipe like I've stated before. HS Motorsports also makes one that is one silicone piece with the throttle body adapter.
To each their own as the single silicone piece kits are more $$$. My Rudy's kit pipe, the curved metal pipe that goes towards the CAC, has slid out of the silicone coupler that comes off the throttle body adapter. I've heard about the hair spray trick but have never done it.
