Help identifying my trucks

Hi guys long time lurker first time posting. I've been doing research on vin and serial numbers for over a year on and off. I think I know but I'm still not confident in my findings.
I have (2) Canadian trucks, both dually built around 45/46. Identified by the tag on the firewall reading 5G and 6G. Bad red photo, its all I have on my phone, truck is at the farm.

Red tag reads:
ENGINE: 5G-4479 = 1945 V8 build number 4479
CODE: (?)59(8)TS1-(H)4209 = Cant understand. and bracketed because its hard to read.
no engine

Green tag reads:
ENGINE: 6G-18620 = 1946 V8 build number 18620(?)
CODE: 27047H45615 = Cant understand.
engine has stamping on head "C59A"

In the CODE I am lead to believe the "H" stands for Halifax or home office as build location. Directly followed by manufactured year, which would be 42' on the red and 45' on the green. But I'm unsure how the red one was actually build in 42' and got a 45' motor and properly stamped on the tag. And the numbers in front of the "H" I cant understand.

Any help is much appreciated. I have tried to figure it out but I honestly just need help.

I also have a hard time believing green is a true 3 ton. Could it be true?
I definitely need better pictures next time I'm with the trucks.

Thanks for any help!

Thanks for the link! I even went down a few rabbit holes in there too. It sucks there's not as much info for the Canadian trucks. I'm still uncertain. I think ill start using the paint and trim codes to try and narrow it down maybe.
I did learn though that the C59A engine is designated to a Ford Monarch, so it must have been swapped in at some point. Is there any other markings on the engine besides on the cylinder head? I'll also check if the head is aluminum or steel as I heard cars has al and trucks got steel heads.

Hi Justin, I have the info you need. My Manuals are lent out at the moment, But should have them back NLT Thursday.
Will be at an auto show 12-14th. Will circle back around and Post scanned page(s) for you to download and print for your files.

ENGINE: 6G-18620 = 1946 V8 build number 18620(?)
If I remember correctly 6G yes 6 -1946 engine the rest is the cast number (cant remember G, but my manual has that info).

FYI, - If I remember correctly off the top of my head , H= Home (Windsor Plant) the numbers after the H is the actual VIN.
CODE: 270 - refers to model, 47 refers to year 1947 , H = Home where it was assembled 45615 - is the vin

Not uncommon to find a 46 motor stuffed into a 47 body.

Give me a few days and we'll get it all cleared up for ya.

- Scoot

Hey Scoot, that would be awesome to get that info thanks! I look forward to seeing what the book tells us.
The code makes a lot more sense now. Cant wait to see what model 270 is. It'll help me bring these back to life.
Plan is to use the best parts from each to make one complete unit, as close to original as possible. Just for fun. Wait its always just for fun isn't it? I mean this is fun right? /s lol

Follow -up

Heading out the door, Here's what I show , 270 is 3 Ton chassis and cab 158" wheel base without Cowl.
G = 3 3/16" bore 4 speed tranny. Paint code also listed. Any other questions I can answer will be glad to help. Will be out of pocket until 8/16.

wow thanks for copying those pages! I appreciate it very much. I've started poking my head around ebay for similar books.

I managed to get out to the farm this weekend and got a better picture of the ID plate on the red truck.
Its taged as a 5G so 45' with the 4 speed truck tranny.
Code: C598T81-H4209 which is yet again different ID format. But I think I got it. I found a thread that says C598T is a 46'/47', 158" Mercury Truck. Although I dont know why theres a difference between the Ford and Merc naming when this says its a Merc but has all ford badging and stamped on hood. And 81 seems like the code for the chassis and cab configuration. H = Home plant and serial number 4209.
