August For Us Monthly BS Thread

Welcome visitors to the monthly Mississippi Chapter BS Thread... where we mostly discuss the vagaries of our weather.
If you are a MS Ford truck (any year, vintage) owner, please say hello & especially if you are interested in having the coveted chapter membership added to your FTE status.
If you're in a neighboring state/region or just like us, please feel free to join in & post.

We love projects. We love pictures of projects. If you know of a automotive event close by that may have slipped our notice, please tell us about it.
If you're out & about in the state, say where & when & we can do IRL for a cup of coffee or cool beverage. If you need advice/info/helping hand, speak up & we'll give it a shot.

Last month of official summer. Enjoy it if you're not baking, boiling or par broiling where ever you are.

Terri & I are hoping for a couple miracles to occur so that we might actually have a vacation first of September.

I'm trying to resuscitate a 94 short-bed so that the city doesn't give me grief over parking an abandoned vehicle in my drive in the mean time.

Be safe out there.

Man, I wish I had free stuff like that. I'm doing a ring & bearing rebuild on an 96 explorer 5.0 & I'd forgot how tiny they are.

Thanks for dropping in John, I was about to post & cry about he quiet.

It's not often I get things for free but this guy just picks these things up for scrap and told me I could help myself, when I seen it was a 5.8 I just hated seeing it going for scrap. No key in the ignition so can't see what the mileage is on it..I picked up another set of stock height Chevy one ton steering knuckle there too like what's on that front suspension..plus the rotors were new but will have to clean them up in the sandblast cabinet and keep them for spares..

I swept the pine straw & pine *****is off this thing & coaxed it into life and motion after a couple years.

I've got the mold off it now & am trying to seal up the window gaps that were "temp" sealed with blue tape.

Got small block scattered hell to breakfast & gone in my shop. Working on a rock order to be paid for with "store" credit. We'll see.

I love that you cant say pee niss siss'

Truck looks like it's in really good shape. I had to park my old Chevy beater and without a daily now except for the car. Frame is rotted too bad so I pulled the plates, trying to find a replacement that doesn't cost an arm and a leg is hard these days..

Looks are deceiving. It's pretty solid for 230k miles on the body/frame which has bocoupe small dents, but no rust.

Red paint is a mix of original fade & some repaint, but is not too hideous.

Thomas & I were in the yard the other day lamenting that we couldn't buy the numerous good cab/frames we see destined for the crusher.

You never can tell. 1-3K. Mine came from a mechanics special lot at our local pull-a-part. It's got the wrong engine.

There's all kind of bargains with people getting rid of them cause competent repair is damn near impossible to get for this era.

Originally, this was a roller 5.0, (351 firing order) MAF & AODE. Now it has a non-HO 5.0 (302 firing order). Reg cab & short bed 2wd.

It had dealer special body kit & stripes on an XL package.

Means the sequential injection is squirting on the back of 4 closed intake valves each cycle.

Finding a rust free truck around here is damn near impossible unless it's less than 5-6 years old or someones babied it and kept it off the roads in winter..

I can imagine. Even stuff that has rust here is usually salvageable, unless it's been on the coast for it's lifetime.

It seems the newer vehicles are worse than the older stuff, new stuff looks not bad on top but the under carriage is rotted to no return. Sister in law just finished paying off a 2014 they bought used and it's been written off because the frame is rotted away. They are pretty poor with only a small government pension..I'll help them out as much as I can but I'll be in need of another one myself soon too..

That's terrible. So many trucks of this era go for free or a couple hundred bucks just to get it hauled off.

I like free and don't mind a $ 200- $300 considering what the mechanical could cost. I'm sure there is deals around here but finding them is the problem...lol
