Hey guys, I have yet another dumb question. How do I exactly measure my rim size? Right now I rock 16 inch rims, I know that for sure. 235/85/16. However my rims are a bit crusty so I was wanting to get some new ones (the chrome is cracking and fading off). And I found a gentlemen selling 16x6 8x6.5. I understand what the 8x6.5 is, but what is the 16x6? Does it matter? I don't know how to measure mine, would it affect me if I was to mount 265/75/16s?
Thank you to anyone who can help me out?
16" In Diameter, 6" Wide. Which will mount 235/85-16 or 265/75-16 just fine.
265/75-16 has a treadwidth of 265mm, a 6" rim is roughly 153mm wide. So you'd have roughly 56mm of "Balloon" on either side of the rim. Which if you don't think in metric, is about 2-1/4"
By way of comparison, it's pretty common to see a 31x10.50-15 on a 15x6" Rim. That gets you about the same "Balloon" as you'd be getting on your 16 with that tire size.
LT = Light Truck Tire
265 = 265mm Wide Tread
75 = Sidewall height is 75% of the Tread Width (265 X .75 = 198.75mm)
R = Radial Construction
16 = Rim Size, in Inches, that the Tire fits on
I actually have no clue what the /10 means. I've not run into that.
