Hi everyone,
I have a 1990,F150,XLT,4x2. It currently has the factory rims which are size 7.00x15. My friend wants to sell me rims size 10.00x15. I am going to upgrade my tires to 30x9.5x15.
My question is since the rim is wider than the tire will it fit properly?
I am looking for that square look in the tires, I just want to know if the rim width with the tire width has anything to do in getting that look?
I just put some 235/75/15's on my 15x8's and I love the look, they are much wider. I would say go for it but a 10 inch rim might be hard on the truck. Give it a shot and keep your old rims, if you notice anything unusual your just a trip to the tire store away.
15x10" rims are much too wide for 30x9.5's, they are too wide for any tire less than 11.5" wide. I have a 30x9.50 on a 15x8, it is on the wide side as the widest part of the tire is down by the rim and then the whole sidewall tapers to the tread. They would be much better off on 15x7 rims but I already had the 15x8 so I used it. I don't think anyone will mount a 30x9.50 on a 10" wide rim if they could even figure out how, I have never seen a tire smaller than a 31x10.5 mounted on one and that was a major pain, and looked awful too. If you take it off-road, anything you hit with the side of the tire will hit the rim, and possibly dent it. If you do knock the tire off the rim you won't be able to reinflate it without the help of a tire machine or a bead seater. I guess what I am saying is, you already have the ideal rim size for the tire you have, so why would you change to a rim that is not even close to the right size just for the sake of change?
