I'm about to show my BUTT so watch out! I have stock 17 in rims and want to get bigger tires. How do I tell the size of the tire. I'm assuming the numbers on the side are for height, width, and rim size. 265(height in inches?)/70(width?)/17(rim?)
265/70R17 take 265 times 0.70 divide by 25.4 (metric millimeters to inches) multiply by 2 and add the 17 (which is inches).
(265 x 0.70)/25.4 x 2 + 17 = 31.6
If you wanted 35's you would need 315/75R17's. I dunno if they make this size. You could just call Discount tire and tell em you want 35's for you 17" rim!
