Im with TJC on this one. The "independent lab results" mean nothing. That's just marketing so you'll buy the bottle. More accurate testing must be done than the "When my (highly inaccurate) gas gauge hit 1/2 tank, I look at my odometer to figure out my MPG" test. Real numbers must be derived using a completely topped off fuel tank, and months of testing to come to a conclusion.
Fuel additives? Every once in a while when I drive past the restaurant next door I dump their scrap oil jugs into the fuel tank. End up getting 40 miles to every gallon of ULSD that way.
I know that's not what OP meant, but that's the only kind of "fUeL AdDiTiVe" that's gonna get you ahead for the money. And, I suspect, the only kind that's gonna get you ahead at all.

Sounds about right in my experience. As far as I'm concerned any claims of over 16 MPG can safely be written off as a gross calculation error (in other words, 100% pure, unadulterated bovine excrement). For a while I drove a base-model F-250 RWD w/ manual shift, which is the most fuel-efficient application these engines were ever installed in, and on a good day it got somewhere in the neighborhood of 14.
A long long long long time ago when diesel fuel was 62-65 cetane, I got 22 mpg on a 400 mile run in my 88 4X4 with 4.10 gears, 35 inch tires, and ZF5 speed.
I fueled up jusr before getting on rt80, and set the cruise at 60 mph.
at Ohio border, I was showing close to empty on both talks because my gauges have been 8 gallons off since new.filled up and continued into cleavland. When I left to come home, I stopped at the same station and fueled up again, and drove the 450 miles back home cruise set at 60.
with the 35 cetane garbage they call diesel these days I am lucky to get 12 mpg with the same setup.

i do the same with the WVO(filtered down to 1 micron) !i run one tank with the WVO/ULSD mixture of 50-70% WVO , it significantly cut my fuel bill down... also i try to switch to ULSD about 2 miles out so the start up is with ULSD and to keep my lines cleaner...so far my truck runs good AND my exhaust smells like French Fries
I’m sure this has been discussed before. What is the best fuel additive for my 7.3 IDI NA. I’m just about to purchase this truck and it has previously had old fuel removed, new injectors due to sitting to long. The fuel filters were changed twice after the work. What is the best in your experience to clean the system in this old girl? Thank you!!!
I drained my tanks when we purchased ours after sitting 15 years. Only to inspect the tanks and make sure the fuel selector valve worked.
if you’re worried about dirty injectors run some ATF or Marvel mystery oil. It will also wash the cylinder walls.
an ounce per gallon is the ratio I use. Twice a year. End of summer / start of spring.
This isn’t aggressive by any means.
But for everyday inject pump lubrication I use 2 stroke oil from Wally World.
Add the stuff before filling.

I use a similar system- yucky stuff in the back tank, clean ULSD in the front. Start-up and shut-down only on the front tank. Never liked using the term "waste" (motor or vegetable) oil, that stuff is worth a good $5 a gallon at current ULSD prices!
